Our Story
Croutons Fine Foods is a family owned business that prides itself on fine food, every day, for any occasion. David and Nerissa McLean have been the proud owners of Croutons since 2006. The business has been serving the Kooyong & surrounding communities since 1977, preparing fresh food daily, prepared onsite using only the best ingredients from local and international suppliers.
Croutons offer a combination of prepared traditional homestyle and modern cuisine. Just take-home heat and eat, and also specialise in designing the right menu to suit whatever the occasion.
It’s comfort food!
Our focus is on really good cooking, the sort you are capable of if you have time or wish that you could do, and a nostalgia for food like our mothers cooked. People remember the food of their childhoods fondly. We use a lot of recipes from our grandmother’s notebooks handed down, and things we have developed in our own kitchens cooking for family and friends.
It’s about doing the simple things consistently well and exceeding people’s expectations.
There are four kitchens all behind the walls of our store which our highly talented chefs work in.
The main kitchen produces our fresh seasonal salads, hearty soups, traditional casseroles and curries, sauces and a variety of burgers, schnitzels and salmon patties just to name a few.
The pastry chefs start nice and early each day to make sure all our cakes and desserts that are freshly baked are ready for you as our doors open. They produce, cakes, puddings, slices, desserts, muffins and scones. They are happy to take on any challenge or request.
Our famous Chicken & Leek Pies and Beef & Red Wine Pies are produced in another kitchen along with the variety of quiches and moulles that are produced daily.
The fourth kitchen is where all our sandwiches and dips are made. Our Poached Chicken & Chive Sandwich with House-made Egg Mayonnaise is the talking point in everyone’s household.
We also can cater for any occasion or function.
